“SHARK! It’s a shark!” We’ve all heard these words in the movie that made them famous, JAWS, but this week I actually heard them and experienced the fear of one swimming right towards me. It was our first day on the beach of our family vacation to Seaside, Florida. Our entire family had just been jumping waves together, tossing a ball back and forth, laughing and having a fun time. The girls decided it was time for some sunbathing, but Ryan and I stayed back to enjoy some time together. Our conversation was light and our worries had begun to fade like they always do when we escape the busyness of life. His body was facing the shore while mine could see the horizon. I glanced to my right and saw a dark mass in the water which at first I thought was seaweed. Then it dawned on me that there really wasn’t that much seaweed in the water and this dark mass was moving towards us and quickly. I got Ryan’s attention and asked him what it was and as he turned around he quickly said those famous words, “SHARK, It’s a shark!”
The next few moments were quick and frightening. My Ryan got between me and the shark and told me to GO! I was trying my very hardest, but the rip current was holding me back from making any ground. The shark was not interested in Ryan, but he was very interested in me for some reason. He was doing everything he could to get to me. By this time we had made enough commotion that other men were coming to our aid. Ryan had slapped the water towards the shark and he finally began to swim away. Thank The LORD!!! He was about 3.5 feet in length and resembled a Tiger Shark in body. He was aggressive and not afraid of us. Isn’t this just like the enemies and trials that we all face in life? We try our hardest to swim away, and we feel like we are not making any headway in our battle to fight. BUT the truth is we have a GOD that stands between us and our enemy every time. We NEVER fight alone. I have been meditating on Psalm 27 this week every since my close encounter. I hope you enjoy reading these words today and whatever battle you are fighting…you hear His promises.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear, though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.” Psalm 27:1-6
Every day this week I have seen a rainbow. It overwhelms me! I could not help but think that this is a sweet reminder from above that His promises are TRUE! His Holy word is a lamp unto my feet. I love reading it and soaking in it’s truth. When was the last time you meditated on a chapter or maybe just a verse? I encourage you today to find some time to carve out to be still and allow His words of promise to fill your heart with PEACE and JOY! Yes, we are all fighting our own battles in this great big world, BUT we NEVER fight alone friends. We have a God that is FOR US, and He stands in the battle with us. He WINS! We WIN! We WILL dwell in the house of the Lord forever…it’s a promise! Stand firm and victorious sweet ones. You are LOVED! #truth #gloryup
A shout out to my man that I have the JOY of doing life with…thank YOU for being an amazing example! As we have been sharing with our girls what character traits to look for in a man, you radiated to them this week. You stood in the gap and were willing to risk it all for me. Thank you for loving me well. XOXOXO, Fancy
