photo (54)Yesterday was a beautiful day! The start of the day was filled with some angst and worry as I had taken the day off from work with so many things left undone. Although I wanted to be there with my girls watching them do something they love, part of me inside was more concerned about the work that I was missing and how I was going to get caught up. Our girls had the same worries. They were missing a day of school and they would have make-up work as well. When we arrived to our lamb pins and got settled in, I needed to find some peace in the midst of the busyness. I brought up my Jesus Calling App that I have on my phone and began to read the day’s devotion. Here is what I heard Him say:

“I want you to live this day abundantly, seeing all there is to see, doing all there is to do. Don’t be distracted by future concerns. Leave them to Me! Each day of life is a glorious gift, but so few people know how to live within the confines of today. Much of their energy for abundant living spills over the time line into tomorrow’s worries or past regrets. Their remaining energy is sufficient only for limping through the day, not for living it to the full. I am training you to keep your focus on My Presence in the present. This is how to receive abundant life, which flows freely from My throne of grace.”

Wow! I passed the phone to my husband who also read the devotion and he looked at me and said, “Don’t worry about tomorrow! That is a good one.” It really was! I needed to hear those very words and be reminded of His promise of abundant life in the here and now. How often do we jump ahead of ourselves and worry about the future? I know for me it’s more often than I care to admit. I think it was sweet of Him to speak it over me ever so gently through a devotion that I almost missed out on reading due to the busyness of the day. I am so glad I decided to take the time to read it.

The rest of my day I chose to ENJOY it. I embraced my surroundings, and I looked for the blessings that He had for me and boy were there so many.

photo (69)I got to watch my daughters and nieces each WIN ribbons for their showings at the State Fair of Texas. This was our Lexi’s very first BIG SHOW and she kept us on the edge of our seat with excitement. What a debut she had coming in 3rd place in the South Down class. Our oldest niece came in as the Grand Champion in her class of Crosses. This was another first time experience for all of us.

We had beautiful friends that took time out of their busy schedules to come and support us and cheer us on. This was a first time experience for them too. My girlfriend helped braid their hair to get them looking their best. They were beautiful. I got to see my youngest see her childhood bestie as they embraced each other with hugs and giggles and presents for each other. They truly miss each other but when they get back together it’s as if time has stood still and they pick up right where they left off. Friendships are true blessings from above and we are so grateful for them.

imagejpeg_2We even had time to enjoy the State Fair Midway, get a pic with Big Tex and enjoyed a Fletcher’s Corn Dog. These are a must if you visit the fair. The girls were able to ride some rides while the moms got to catch up on each other’s lives. We ended the day with a nice dinner, a crazy car ride and memories that will remain etched in my heart for ALWAYS! It was a REALLY GOOD DAY! I am already anticipating another good one. So how about you…how will you choose to embrace TODAY? The abundance is available to us with each new day that we are given…it’s a glorious gift! I hope you get to unwrapping it and enjoying all there is to see in it. Make it a BLESSED one filled with ABUNDANCE!

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34
